When considering admission to the University for Development Studies (UDS), it is essential for prospective students to understand the general entry requirements for various programs. Here’s a breakdown of the requirements based on the qualification you hold:

Basic Requirements for Applying to the University for Development Studies

1. WASSCE Holders (for Degree Programmes)

WASSCE holders seeking admission into degree programmes must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum Grades: Candidates must have at least a C6 in all three core subjects (English Language, Mathematics (Core), and Integrated Science/Social Studies) and three elective subjects.
  • Aggregate Score: The aggregate score of the best six subjects (three core and three electives) must not exceed 36. However, admission is competitive, and many programs have lower cut-off points.
  • Important Note: Social Studies is not considered an elective subject. For candidates who studied Arts and Business, a grade in Social Studies may replace a lower grade in Integrated Science, provided they have at least a pass in Integrated Science. Conversely, for Science students, Social Studies cannot replace Integrated Science in the aggregate calculation.

Candidates who receive a D7, E8, or F9 in any of the three core or elective subjects are advised not to apply for a degree programme.

2. WASSCE Holders (for Diploma Programmes)

For candidates who do not meet the degree programme requirements:
