Notre Dame Minor Seminary Secondary School; Very Rev. Fr. Armand Lebel founded Notre Dame Seminary Senior High School, an all-male second-cycle educational institution. On September 16, 1960, the first class of thirty-one students was admitted. It currently has a population of roughly 500 students who are pursuing General Science or General Arts. The school is located in Navrongo, Ghana’s Upper East Region, in the Kasena-Nankana Municipality.
In keeping with the School’s motto, “Scientia et Fide” (Knowledge and Faith or Knowledge in the Service of Faith), and the founding fathers’ intent, Notre Dame Seminary strives to provide an integral education at the pre-tertiary level by preparing students to be effective channels of God’s love and instruments in the country’s development.
History of Notre Dame Minor Seminary Secondary School
On July 8, 1960, the Catholic Church built the school via the tireless efforts of its missionaries, led by Rev Father Lebel. The school began with 31 students and was primarily run by the Catholic Church until 1990 when the Ghana Education Service (GES) took it. Rev. Father Francis Kodelogo, a Catholic priest, is the current Rector of the School. According to records, the school is one of Ghana’s best, with students performing exceptionally well in the West African School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
