Some students of KNUST have been deferred by the Knust Management following their inability to pay their school fees.

A text message received by a group of KNUST students has left them shaken and unsure of what to do next. Students who had not met their minimal financial responsibility for the academic year (paying more than 70% of their academic fees) had been postponed from their program of study, according to a message from KNUST Management.

This comes just two weeks after the SRC made many interventions through the Ketewa Biara Nsua (KBN) Support Scheme and the SRC Bursary, as well as a week after the successful candidates’ list, was announced. However, it appears that the University’s worrisome SMS message was still sent to the recipients of these interventions.

In an attempt to reassure students that their bursary allocations are still intact, the KNUST SRC President, Michael Abuah, tweeted that “Those who qualified for KBN and KNUST Bursary will have their monies reflect in their portal ASAP to revert their deferrals. Processes delayed because of the huge number of beneficiaries this year.” He ended by advising those who have the means to foot the bill should do so to have theirs reverted.
