Examinations at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, were supposed to start on Monday, 9th of August 2021. Preceding this important activity, the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) went on an indefinite strike.
The reason being that the government does not want to provide their necessary needs and stipends. This has led to a series of meetings and adjournments which finally led to the suspension of our examinations till further notice.
From a neutral perspective, students were glad to have received this information and were quite happy about the swift change in events. However, the matter seems to get serious by the day. Government do not want to give in, UTAG does not also want to relent. The surge in disagreement is a bit alarming.
Students, therefore, have just one choice; to wait on the decision of UTAG. They have become our voice and refuge.
There’s one question on the lips of every student…
Should UTAG back down, how should examinations be?
