Geography is the study of places and the relationships between people and their environments. Geographers explore both the physical properties of Earth’s surface and the human societies spread across it
Rural Development is the process of improving the quality of life and economic well-being of people living in rural areas, often relatively isolated and sparsely populated areas.
The course provides an overview of the settlement dynamics of human populations with regard to the environment they occupy. Students will explore the inter-relationships between population, resources, environment, and development. The main focus is on Africa and the Developing World in general. Some of the subjects you will study include population and development inter-relationships, population and resource utilization, population distribution and redistribution policies, population, and environment, population and contemporary social issues, population and health, gender and development.

General Entry Requirements
WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS
Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including Geography, (At A1-B3) and any TWO (2) of the following: Economics, Government, French, English Literature, Religious Studies, History, Elective Mathematics, Akan, and any other General Arts Elective.
A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS
Applicants must have FIVE (5) Credits at the O’ Level, including English Language and Mathematics, plus THREE (3) A’ Level Passes including Geography and TWO (2) other Subjects from the following: History, French, English, Akan, Religious Studies, Elective Mathematics and Economics. They must also obtain a pass in General Paper.
MATURE APPLICANTS
Applicants should be at least 25 years at the time of submitting the Application Form.
EITHER
FIVE (5) Credits at O’ Level, including English and Mathematics.
OR
WASSCE/SSSCE credits in THREE (3) Core Subjects English, Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science, and credits in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including Geography.
How Geography & Rural Development Programme Is Assessed
Students are assessed by any combination of two assessment methods: quizzes/interim/mid-semester tests and written examinations at the end of each course.
