KNUST management has ordered Michael Adofo Abuah, the president of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Students Representative Council (SRC), to step aside.

The SRC President is required to resign by order of KNUST management in response to misconduct allegations. The instruction follows a probe into alleged misbehaviour by the Speaker and SRC President, respectively.

The two have been charged with misusing student funds since they didn’t take a trip they were granted money for.

The SRC President, Michael Adofo Abuah, and Speaker of the SRC, Andrew Anokye Kyeremanteng, were each given orders by management at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to return GHC 6,710.00 by August 8.

The aforementioned sum is allegedly the money the pair spent but did not use to travel on the educational excursion.

The management of the university has asked the SRC president to step aside by the end of August 25 to allow for an investigation, according to the most recent development, which was revealed in a letter dated August 25 and signed by the Deputy Registrar (Student Affairs), Mrs. Lucy Diawuo.

Official Statement by the school

Pursuant to the allegations of misconduct against you for which reason the University has empanelled the Junior Member Disciplinary Committee (JMDC) to investigate same per letters referenced LWS/621A and dated August 18, 2022, | write on behalf of the Registrar to inform you to step aside as the President of the Student Representative Council (SRC) by close of today the 25th of August 2022, pending the outcome of the official investigations into the alleged matters.

By a copy of this letter, the SRC Judicial Committee is to ensure, in accordance with the SRC Constitution, that no hiatus is created in the admini student body. The Judicial Committee should liaise with the Director of Students

Affairs for the necessary actions to be taken for the effective running of the SRC Administration.
