Justice Adjei, a citizen of Agona Swedru in the Central Region, has appealed to the President of the Republic of Ghana for urgent rehabilitation and tarring of roads within the Agona Swedru township and adjoining communities.
In a letter dated September 26, 2026, addressed to the President at Jubilee House in Accra, Justice Adjei called for intervention to address the poor condition of roads in the area. The appeal was submitted through the Municipal Chief Executive of the Agona West Municipal Assembly.
According to the letter, several roads within Agona Swedru and those linking neighbouring communities are riddled with potholes, making movement difficult for residents, particularly during the rainy and dry seasons.
Justice Adjei noted that the deteriorating road conditions have created significant challenges for farmers, drivers, students and other road users.
He explained that farmers struggle to transport their produce to markets, while drivers incur high vehicle maintenance costs and charge increased fares due to frequent vehicle damage.
The letter further highlighted the impact on healthcare and education, stating that patients face difficulties reaching hospitals during emergencies, while students risk arriving late at school because of poor road conditions.
Describing Agona Swedru as a major commercial and agricultural hub, Justice Adjei stressed that rehabilitating the roads would improve business activities, facilitate transportation and enhance the livelihoods of residents.
He therefore urged the President to direct the Ministry of Roads and Highways to consider rehabilitating and tarring the roads in Agona Swedru and its surrounding communities.
The appeal comes amid concerns about the importance of accessible road infrastructure to economic activities, public safety and the overall well-being of residents.
Justice Adjei expressed appreciation to the President for his service to the country and appealed for prompt attention to the road challenges facing the community.
