KNUST Indefinitely Suspend Morale , Procession, Hall, and SRC Week Celebrations. Vandalism occurred Thursday night as a result of fights between students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology that’s University Hall and Unity Halls.
Following the disturbances arising out of the University Hall Week Celebrations on Thursday 18th August, 2022, the Executive Committee of the University, at an Emergency Meeting held on 19th August, 2022, constituted a Fact-Finding Committee to establish the causes of the disturbances. The Executive Committee also decided that with IMMEDIATE EFFECT:
I. Hall Week and SRC Week celebrations are SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY;
ii. Massing up of students leading up to ‘morale’ activities and procession is SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY;
iii. Random security checks of persons and vehicles entering and exiting the University campus are to be carried out.
The Transport Department of the University has been directed to take custody of all the vehicles that were vandalised during the disturbances and make appropriate recommendations for repairs.
Management of the University wishes to express its profound gratitude to the Security Agencies, particularly, the Ashanti Regional Police Command, for their swift intervention in restoring peace and order on Campus. We would also like to assure the University Community and the general public of the commitment of Management to ensure uninterrupted academic activities in the University.
