About 80% of Ghanaians rely on alternative medicine for their basic medical requirements. Therefore, it is necessary to modernize and regulate these practices. The term “herbal medicine” describes the use of various plant tissues for therapeutic purposes. Outside of mainstream medicine, the use of herbal medicine is not new.
With developments in clinical research, analysis, and quality control, the use of herbal medicine has been more widely accepted as a valuable tool for disease treatment and disease prevention. The Bachelor of Science in Herbal Medicine programme was created to educate medical herbalists, who will advance the use of effective pharmaceuticals in the delivery of high-quality healthcare.
