Prempeh College is a public secondary boarding school for boys in Kumasi, the capital city of the Ashanti Region. The Asanteman traditional authority, the British Colonial Government, the Methodist Church Ghana, and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana formed the institution in 1949. The school was based after Eton College in England and is named after the King of Ashanti, (Asantehene) Sir Osei Tutu Agyeman Prempeh II, who provided the land it was erected. The school ranked first in matriculation at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2004, with 441 students admitted, and second in 2012, with 296 students admitted, and is considered one of Ghana’s best secondary schools.
