MSc Food Science and Technology

Candidates for admission shall be required to have a BSc. (Hons) degree in Nutrition, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Natural Resources Management.

Higher-level professional qualifications or an advanced degree and relevant work experience in food-related establishment could be considered where applicants have not reached the standard entry requirements, though every applicant is assessed individually on their own merit through interview.

M.Phil Food Science and Technology

Prospective candidates in the following disciplines are eligible to apply: BSc. Food Science and Technology, BSc. Food Science and Nutrition, B.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Sc. Biology, B.Sc. Agric, B.Sc. Natural Resources, B.Sc. Chemistry, B.Sc. Agricultural Engineering, B.Sc. Chemical Engineering and all other B.Sc. equivalent courses. Some candidates may audit some courses in B.Sc. Food Science and Technology alongside the Post graduate courses. Preference is given to candidates with First and Second class upper divisions in the up-listed degrees. MPhil. MSc Food Quality Management (IDL)

Candidates for admission to MSc Food Quality Management course shall be required to have a BSc degree in Food Science and Technology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Nutrition Science, Biology, Agricultural Engineering or Chemical Engineering or any closely related science or technology BSc programme from a recognized university.

 Also a higher level professional qualification or an advanced degree and relevant work experience in food related establishment could be considered where applicants have not reached the standard entry requirements, though every applicant is assessed individually on their own merit through interview.

PhD Food Science and Technology

All prospective candidates in the following disciplines are eligible to apply: M.Phil. Food Science and Technology, MSc Food Science and Technology, MSc Chemical Engineering or a suitable M.Phil equivalent.  Some candidates may have to pass an interview and/or audit some postgraduate coursework as well. Thus the admission shall be based on:

  • Application with relevant qualification and Research Proposal
  • Performance at interview

Entry Requirements

Prospective candidates in the following disciplines are eligible to apply: BSc. Food Science and Technology, BSc. Food Science and Nutrition.

Assessment Requirements

Written examinations and projects will contribute towards the final assessment. Each individual course will be assessed through a continuous assessment and a written paper at the end of the course.

Requirements for Graduation

The minimum number of credits required for graduation is 43. A successful candidate should have passed all the core courses including seminars and thesis reports.
