The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has been on a nationwide strike for several weeks. The lectures are putting pressure on the government to raise their wages. The teachers have refused to teach at any of the country’s universities.
Various consultations have taken place, but the organization is still unable to make a conclusion. Freshmen and continuing students are now not attending lectures at public colleges.

Professor Ransford Gyampo, Secretary for the University of Ghana Chapter, UTAG, was interviewed. He emphasized that they would not call off the strike and that careless if they are arrested. Many people, especially parents and students, are concerned about the issue, but the bottom line is that Society is appealing to UTAG to end the strike and return to the classrooms.
