English programme is all about the various concepts that make the artistic blend of the English Language and its structure. It focuses on giving students the theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge of the English Language. Here in KNUST, the school of English offers a four-year undergraduate programme in English.
Knust Admission and Entry Requirements for English language
WASSCE/SSSCE
Credit Passes in Three (3) Elective subjects including Literature in English and any Two (2) of the following Elective Subjects: French, History, Government, Economics, Akan, Religious Studies and any other General Arts Elective.
A’Level Applicants
Applicants must have Five (5) credits at O’Level including English Language and Mathematics, plus Three (3) A-Level passes, including Literature in English and Two (2) other subjects from the following: History, French, English, Akan, Religious Studies and Economics. They must also attain a pass in the General paper.
Mature Applicants
Applicants must be 25 years and above at the time of submitting the application. They should either possess:
Five (5) credits at O’Level including English Language, Mathematics and Literature in English.
OR
WASSCE/SSSCE credits in Three (3) Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science), plus credits in Three (3) Elective Subjects including Literature in English and any Two (2) of the following Elective Subjects: French, History, Government, Economics, Akan, Religious Studies and any other General Arts Elective. Applicants must also pass a written examination and an interview.
