Unfortunately, they are met with hostel prices which have been increased by wide margins. This has been the newest piece here on KNUST campus.
With the news of this increase in hostel prices, social media has been blaring with these news far and wide and has caught the attention of even celebrities here in Ghana. As a result of this, the school management has engaged the hostel managers of off campus hostels in the reduction of prices.
According to the management, hostel prices have increased by 20% to 96% margin. These are hostels which does not belong to the Private Hostels Association (PHA) which work with the University.
Through the Office of the Dean of Students, the University have been engaging the hostel managers over the years and the news of increase in prices is nothing new under the sun. Hostels under the PHA have only increased their prices by 12% as agreed with the University.
The school management has assured the student body and the general public about their work towards the end of this problem and are also looking into the construction of new hostels along with tree private investors in order to reduce the pressure on hostels in and off campus.
The voices of the people have been heard by the management and all look forward to see how best the University will handle this situation.
