A 56-year-old security guard at Ayeduase Roman Catholic Junior High School has been arraigned before the Asokore Mampong District Court over allegations of rape and sextortion involving two female students of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The accused, identified as Lloyd Kwaku Boateng, is alleged to have sexually assaulted, extorted money from, and intimidated the victims in two separate incidents reported on February 13 and April 4, 2026.

First Incident

The court, presided over by Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter, heard that Boateng allegedly confronted the couple while they were hugging and accused them of engaging in sexual activity.

Prosecutors stated that the accused assaulted the boyfriend, seized their mobile phones and room keys, and demanded GH₵300 before forcing him to leave the premises. He then allegedly threatened to strip the female student naked and parade her by the roadside in an attempt to humiliate her.

Second Incident

Nearly two months later, on April 4, 2026, a second victim, aged 23, reported a similar encounter to KNUST police. The complainant and her boyfriend, identified only as Daniel, had reportedly gone to the school compound for fresh air when the incident occurred.

Arrest and Investigations

Boateng was arrested on April 13, 2026, after allegedly attempting to use similar tactics on another victim. He was apprehended by a boyfriend of one of the victims with support from community members and subsequently handed over to police.

Medical reports for both complainants have been filed and endorsed by medical officers, confirming physical trauma. However, the accused has denied all allegations in his caution statement.

Police Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare, urged the court to remand the accused to allow for further investigations, noting that duplicate dockets have been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office for advice.

Case Adjourned

The court has remanded Boateng into custody, with proceedings adjourned to May 8, 2026.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing as they work to ensure justice for the victims.
