St. Louis Senior High School is a Ghanaian girls’ school located in the Kumasi suburb of Oduom in the Ashanti Region. “In this country, barely 15% of the school-aged youngsters are girls,” observed Most Rev. Hubert Pailissen, SMA, in early 1949. People are starting to recognize that more needs to be done to help this underserved segment of the population, and the chiefs, aware of their responsibilities to their subjects, have urged to create schools for girls in their villages….
However, in order to achieve results, girls’ schools must be directed by ‘Sisters of a Teaching Order’ with the appropriate experience in the most recent development of pedagogic approaches.
As a result, the first St. Louis Sisters arrived in the country on October 18, 1947. They were to continue running the St. Bernadette School, now known as ‘Roman Girls,’ which had previously been created. The St. Louis Sisters, who never do anything half-heartedly, decided to build a new secondary school on the same grounds.
St. Louis Secondary School debuted in 1952 with a class of 12 females. Only a few of this group made it to the second group in 1953, which totaled 42. When the remaining group took their “O” Level Examination in December 1957, they numbered 11.
