KNUST Female Scientist Honoured At The 7th Ghana Women Of Excellence Awards

Dr. (Mrs.) Cynthia Amaning Danquah has won the 7th Ghana Women of Excellence Awards in the category of ‘Tertiary Education and Scientific Research,’ in recognition of her remarkable contribution to social and economic development.

The award was presented to a Senior Lecturer in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in North Ridge, Accra.

The Ghana Women of Excellence Award is organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection. The award ceremony is in commemoration of International Women’s Day themed, ‘Empowering the Ghanaian Woman for National Development.’ The primary objective of the Award Scheme is to motivate Ghanaian women to strive for excellence in their various walks of life and to take their rightful places in the national development process.

Dr. (Mrs.) Danquah is a Visiting Scholar/Research Associate at several overseas universities, including the University of Oxford, University of Nottingham, Birbeck, University of London, and Kings College London all in the United Kingdom. She is also a Pharmacist Preceptor for the Roseman University of Health Sciences, Nevada, USA.

Her research interest spans natural product drug discovery, antimicrobial resistance, infectious diseases, natural product pharmacology, and toxicology. She is also a recipient of the KNUST Research Fund (KREF) Interdisciplinary award and KREF Seed grant, 2019.

She is a member of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), a country ambassador for the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), a member of the British Pharmacological Society (BPS), and an affiliate of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH).

Dr. (Mrs.) Danquah has attended international conferences and workshops in London, Glasgow, and Birmingham in the United Kingdom; Washington, DC, San Diego, California, and Ohio Northern in the United States; Copenhagen, Denmark; Chatenay-Malabry, France; Düsseldorf, Germany; Geneva, Switzerland in Europe; Senegal, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, and Cote d’Ivoire in West Africa; and Copenhagen, Denmark; Chatenay-Malabry,

She is on the editorial boards of several international academic publications, including Nature Scientific Reports, Elsevier’s Phytochemistry Letters, Tuberculosis, and Scientific African.

Dr. (Mrs.) Cynthia Amaning Danquah has won this distinguished honor, which KNUST Management congratulates her on.
