Holy Child School, popularly known as Angel’s Hill, is a boarding second-cycle school for all girls in Cape Coast, Ghana’s Central Region. The school was named one of Africa’s top ten schools in 2003, with the best overall female student in the 2003 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE).
For the 2017 West African Senior School Examination, WASSCE, Holy Child School produced the top overall student, Jochebed Adwoa Sutherland, and the second best overall student, Audrey Emefa Awuttey.
The Society of the Holy Child Jesus (SHCJ) established the school in 1946 to give education to Catholics in the area. Over 1000 females between the ages of 14 and 18 are now enrolled in the program.
Holy Child School pupils are all boarders. The School has always taken pleasure in providing a complete education for ladies in order for them to strive for greater success and become “Women of Substance.” In Latin, the school motto is Facta Non Verba, which translates to “Actions Not Words.” Mrs. Anastasia Thomford Okyere is the current headmistress of the institution. Yellow and brown are the school colors.
Many Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) students in Ghana aspire to enter particular senior high schools in Ghana because of the prestige associated with their names. Such pupils are more likely to research the history of the schools that have gained such renown. Many of them may be unaware of the significance of the colors used by such colleges and what they represent. The following is a list of such schools and what they stand for, in no particular order of merit or other advantage BUT with much focus on Holy Child School Uniform in this publication ;
Yellow and brown are their primary colors. These are reflected in the school’s winning yellow shirt and brown skirts. Their colors represent the concepts of liberty and trust. In addition, they have never won the annual NSMQ.
