Conti-Katanga Clash : Eyewitness Report , Video Account and REGSEC Statement to Knust Students

Vandalism occurred Thursday night as a result of fights between students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology that’s University Hall and Unity Halls.

As part of their hall week, Katanga Hall students were participating in a march, but they ended up in the Unity Hall precinct.

Students from both halls threw objects at one another, causing vandalism. Security has been stepped up currently to stop an escalation. The university’s students have been advised to stop any protests in a statement from the Ashanti regional security council.

The Ashanti Regional Security Council has issued a release to that effect asking students to desist from lawlessness.

“The REGSEC is informing all students and residents of the university community that, all actions intended by any person or group of persons to disturb the current peaceful security in the university will be addressed with the legal instrument of the state,” the release noted.

REGSEC added that “It is requested that people nursing such intentions desist from that and go by the rule of law as any breach of the peace in KNUST and the region will be addressed appropriately.” KNUST Indefinitely Suspend Morale , Procession, Hall, and SRC Week Celebrations
