What is BSc?
Bachelor of Science is an undergraduate degree course usually of three to five years duration. The course is considered as a foundation course for students who want to make their career in the field of science.
Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Agricultural Biotechnology.
The school of Agriculture at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology (KNUST) offers a four-year undergraduate course leading to the BSc (Honours) Degree in Agricultural Biotechnology.
Description
Agricultural Biotechnology, also known as agritech, is an area of agricultural science involving the use of scientific tools and techniques, including genetic engineering, molecular diagnostics, vaccines, and tissue culture, to modify living organisms; plants, animals, and microorganisms. Crops Biotechnology is one aspect of Agricultural Biotechnology that has been greatly developed upon in recent times. The desired trait are exported from a particular species of crop to an entirely different species. These Transgene crops possess desirable characteristics in terms of flavor, color of flowers, growth rate, size of harvested products and resistance to diseases and pests.

Natural Science Managers
Some agricultural biologists become administrators or managers of research and development programs in the industry. For example, research and development programs may focus on machinery. These administrators or managers may not actively conduct research, but manage the people involved on the research program. Individuals with positions as natural science managers typically begin with a bachelor’s degree in natural science and continue to receive advanced degrees.
Technical or Scientific Sales Representatives
Graduates with master degrees in agricultural biology may become technical or sales representative for companies that produce fertilizer, pesticides or hybrid plant varieties. These types of careers may require significant travel to meet with farm managers or farming cooperatives to present the available product lines.
Career challenges in the Agri-Biotech Industry;
For a biotechnologist, the challenge does not end with producing sufficient amounts of foodstuffs. The challenge lies not only in meeting requirements within deadlines but at the same time causing minimal harm to the earth.
