KNUST Mourns the Loss of a Student, Investigation Underway
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is mourning the tragic loss of one of its students, Miss. Joana Deladem Yabani, a fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences.
According to a statement released by the University, the lifeless body of Miss Yabani was discovered near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre at approximately 5:00 am on February 27, 2025. The body was promptly transported to the University Health Services, where she was confirmed dead.
The University has officially informed Miss Yabani’s family and has extended its deepest condolences to them during this difficult time.
A comprehensive investigation is currently underway in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), KNUST Internal Security, and the University Health Services to determine the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.
The University Management has assured the university community and the public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of all students and staff.
“We urge everyone to stay calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and respect the privacy of the bereaved family during this difficult time,” said Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, Deputy Registrar of the University Relations Office.
