A new high-tech fraud, known as SIM Swap Fraud, is spreading rapidly, leaving hundreds of victims in its wake. This sophisticated scam targets mobile money accounts, emptying them without triggering any alerts.

How the Scam Works:

1. Your phone network suddenly loses signal, displaying zero bars.
2. A call comes through from a person claiming to be from your cell phone company, stating there’s a network issue.
3. The caller instructs you to press “1” to restore your network.

Critical Action:

• DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING: Immediately cut or end the call. If you press “1”, your phone will be hacked, and your account will be compromised.

Identifying the Scam:

• Your phone will appear to lose network signal again shortly after the call.
• Your SIM card will be swapped without your knowledge.
• Transactions will occur without alert notifications.

Precautions:

• Be cautious if you use USSD banking and mobile banking services.
• Be vigilant and aware of suspicious calls.
