Wesley Grammar School to Host Public Lecture as Part of 70th Anniversary Celebrations

Wesley Grammar School, in collaboration with the Wesley Grammar School Old Students Association (WESGOSA), is set to host a grand Public Lecture as part of activities marking the school’s 70th Anniversary celebrations.

The lecture, scheduled for Wednesday, 11th March 2026, will take place at the Wesley Towers Auditorium, Accra, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

This milestone event forms a key highlight of the anniversary commemorations and will bring together distinguished academics, clergy, alumni, students, and members of the public for intellectual engagement and reflection on education and national development.

Distinguished Speakers

The event will feature two renowned scholars and education leaders:

  • Prof. Rosemond Boohene (WESGOSA 1986), Former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, who will speak on:
    “Educated to Innovate: Artificial Intelligence, Entrepreneurship and the Future of Work.”
  • Prof. Peter Quartey (WESGOSA 1987), Former Director of ISSER, University of Ghana, Legon, who will deliver a lecture on:
    “Financing Secondary Education in Ghana: A Public-Private Partnership.”

The lecture will be chaired by Prof. William Baah-Boateng, Vice-Chancellor of Methodist University, Accra, ensuring a thought-provoking and engaging session.

Special Guest of Honour

The Special Guest of Honour for the occasion is Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, underscoring the strong Methodist heritage and values upon which Wesley Grammar School was founded.

Celebrating 70 Years of Excellence

Founded in 1956, Wesley Grammar School has built a legacy of academic excellence, discipline, leadership, and service. The 70th Anniversary celebrations provide an opportunity to reflect on the institution’s impact over seven decades and to chart a progressive path for the future.

Under the theme of “innovation, financing education, and future readiness”, the public lecture seeks to stimulate national conversation on critical issues affecting Ghana’s secondary education and workforce preparedness in the era of artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship.

Members of the public, alumni, stakeholders in education, and the academic community are encouraged to attend and participate in this landmark intellectual event.
