University of Ghana Matriculates Over 16,000 Fresh Students for 2025/2026 Academic Year

The University of Ghana has officially welcomed more than 16,000 newly admitted undergraduate students into its academic community for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The matriculation ceremonies were held in five separate sessions on Saturday, February 7, 2026, allowing fresh students across various programmes to formally affirm their status as members of the University. During the ceremonies, the students took the oath of matriculation, which was administered by College Registrars on behalf of the University Registrar.

The oath marked the official commencement of the students’ academic journey at the University of Ghana, symbolising their transition into a community dedicated to scholarship, innovation, leadership and service.

In a congratulatory message delivered on her behalf by the Provosts of the Colleges and the Principal of the Accra City Campus, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, extended warm congratulations to the fresh students on their successful admission. She assured them of the University’s commitment to providing the necessary academic and institutional support to enable them to excel.

The Vice-Chancellor further encouraged the students to take full advantage of the numerous academic, social and personal development opportunities available at the University, urging them to approach their studies with curiosity, discipline and a strong sense of purpose as they prepare to become future leaders and change-makers.
