Man Found Dead in Room at Ayeduase; Cause of Death Awaited.
Residents of Ayeduase were thrown into shock following the discovery of the lifeless body of Joseph Arthur, popularly known as WƆfa Atta, a 50-year-old carpenter, in his room on the morning of Wednesday, 14th January 2026.
According to information gathered, the deceased was last seen on Sunday morning when he returned home from outside. His co-tenants reported that by Monday, an unusual odour began to emanate from his room. Initially, residents assumed the smell was from a dead cat or animal nearby and did not raise immediate alarm.
However, suspicions grew on Tuesday morning when flies were noticed around his window and door. This prompted the co-tenants to alert other residents, leading to further checks. Upon confirmation of the situation, his wife, who resides at Boadi, was immediately contacted in the early hours of 14th January 2026.
Officials from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), The Ghana Police Service (The Criminal Investigation Department) and the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly Works Department were informed and responded to the scence . According to the EPA, the cause of death is currently unknown and further details will be made available after an autopsy is conducted.
Residents in the area described Mr. Joseph Arthur as someone who was often seen at a drinking spot within the community. It was noted that he had reportedly been engaged in alcohol consumption for nearly 10 years. Despite this, authorities have cautioned against drawing conclusions until medical examinations are completed.
The incident has raised serious health and safety concerns among residents, especially due to the length of time the body is believed to have been in the room before discovery. Community members are calling for stronger monitoring, welfare checks, and timely reporting of unusual occurrences to prevent similar situations in the future.
