KNUST’s Innovative Scooter: A Symbol of Ghana’s Cultural Heritage
The Department of Indigenous Arts and Technology at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has developed a manually operated scooter that showcases Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
The scooter, which has a metal frame, features a wooden deck adorned with Adinkra symbols, a traditional Ghanaian motif. The scooter’s decorative touches also include accents of jute, Kente cloth, and leather.
This innovative project demonstrates the university’s commitment to promoting Ghanaian culture and heritage through technology and art. By incorporating traditional symbols and materials into a modern mode of transportation, the scooter serves as a unique representation of Ghana’s cultural identity.
The development of this scooter highlights the importance of preserving cultural heritage while embracing innovation and technology. It also showcases the creativity and ingenuity of KNUST students and faculty.
As Ghana continues to evolve and grow, projects like this scooter serve as a reminder of the importance of preserving cultural heritage and promoting innovation.
