The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has officially announced the suspension of Supplementary Examinations for the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 academic years.

In a letter dated 17th February

 2026 from the Office of the Registrar, the Academic Board disclosed that the decision was taken at its 440th (Special) Meeting held on Monday, 16th February 2026. The Board approved the Proposed Academic Calendar for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, subject to some modifications, as part of measures to revert to the old academic calendar.

No Supplementary Exams for Two Academic Years

Special Dispensation for Students with Trails

To support students who may

be affected by this change, the Board has approved a special dispensation. Students with academic trails will be permitted to add up to two (2) trailed courses to their regular semester workload and write those papers at the end of the relevant semester.

According to the statement, this measure is aimed at assisting students with trails to progress to the next academic level without unnecessary delay.

The Academic Board has called on all stakeholders, including Provosts, Directors, Deans, and Heads of Department, to cooperate fully to ensure a smooth transition to the revised academic structure.
