Step-by-Step Guide to Connect to KNUST WiFi on Windows 7
Step 1: Download SecureW2 Software
- Start by downloading the SecureW2 software from the attachment provided. This software will help configure the network connection securely.
Step 2: Run the Application
- Once downloaded, run the SecureW2 application using the default settings.
- After the installation is complete, reboot your computer to apply the changes.
Step 3: Access the Network and Sharing Center
- After restarting, open the Network and Sharing Center. You can find it by searching for it in the search bar in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
Step 4: Manage Wireless Networks
- In the Network and Sharing Center, click on Manage wireless networks located at the top left corner of the window.
Step 5: Add a New Network
- Click on the Add button to add a new network.
Step 6: Create a Network Profile Manually
- In the window that appears, select Manually create a network profile, then click Next.
Step 7: Enter Network Information
- Fill in the following details for the KNUST WiFi network:
- Network name: KNUST WIFI
- Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
- Encryption type: AES
- Select Start this connection automatically.
- Select Connect even if the network is not broadcasting.

- In the Connection tab, select:

- Go to the Security tab and under Choose a network authentication method, select SecureW2: SecureW2 EAP-TTLS.
- Click on Settings to open the SecureW2 configuration.
Step 11: Configure SecureW2 Settings
- In the DEFAULT profile, click on Configure.
Step 12: Adjust Connection Settings
- In the Connection tab, uncheck the Use alternative outer identity box, then click on the Certificates tab.
Step 13: Configure Certificates
- In the Certificates tab, uncheck the Verify server Certificate box.
Step 14: Adjust Authentication Settings
- Under the Authentication tab, select PAP as the Authentication Method and click on the User Account tab.
Step 15: Enter User Account Details
- Under User Account, you have two options:
- Option a: Uncheck the Prompt user for credentials box and fill in your Username and Password, then click OK.
- Option b: Check the Prompt user for credentials box (recommended for public computers) and click OK.
Step 16: Automatic Connection (Option a)
- If you selected Option a, your computer will automatically connect to KNUST WIFI after configuration.
Step 17: Manual Connection (Option b)
- If you chose Option b, you’ll be prompted to enter your Username and Password when you try to connect to KNUST WIFI.
