Application Guidelines for International Students
Key Points to Note
- Application Fee: The cost of the application is US$100, which will be added to your first-year fees upon admission.
- Required Uploads: Applicants must upload:
- Recent passport-size photograph.
- Academic certificates and transcripts.
- Submission of Form: A completed online form is only considered valid once it is submitted.
- Application Summary: Print out the application summary, attach results slips, certificates, and other relevant documents. Scan and email these to admissions@umat.edu.gh.
- Email Format: Use the following format for the email subject:
Application for Admission (Full Name).
Example: Application for Admission (Zainab Issaka).
A. Application Procedure
Follow these steps to apply:
- Request Login Details:
- Click here to request your login details.
- Your login credentials, along with a link to the application portal, will be sent to your email.
- Complete the Online Application:
- Use the login details to access the application portal.
- Fill out all required fields and upload necessary documents.
- Print and Sign:
- After completing the online form, print the application summary.
- Sign the required sections.
- Attach Supporting Documents:
- Signed application summary.
- Results slips and certificates.
- Birth certificate.
- Proof of English proficiency (for Francophone applicants applying for BSc Engineering programmes).
- Email Your Application:
- Scan all documents and send them to admissions@umat.edu.gh.
- Admission Offer:
- If selected, an admission offer letter will be sent to your email address.
B. Passport Photo Specifications
Your passport photo must meet the following criteria:
- Background: Clear white.
- Format: JPEG.
- Dimensions: 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm.
- File Size: Not more than 65 KB.
- Visibility: Full face and both ears must be visible.
- Restrictions: No headgear, spectacles, self-captured, or phone photos.
Note: This photo will be used for your Student ID card.
C. Programme Selection
Applicants must carefully select their preferred programmes:
- Direct Applicants (BSc): Choose four (4) distinct programmes.
- Direct Applicants (Diploma): Choose one (1) programme.
- BSc Top-Up Applicants: Choose two (2) distinct programmes.
- Certificate Applicants: Choose one (1) programme.
Important: The same programme cannot be selected twice. Order your choices based on preference.
D. Who Qualifies as a Corroborator?
A corroborator is someone who verifies the information provided in your application. This person must have an official stamp and be one of the following:
- Senior Officer in a Public or Private Institution.
- A Chief/Traditional Authority.
- An Ordained Reverend Minister or Imam.
- Head Teacher of an Educational Institution.
Note: Parents or family relatives cannot corroborate your application.
