  • Local Requiem Masses and Holy Hours be organized in archdioceses, dioceses, and parishes
  • Schools and Catholic institutions host prayer services, talks, or discussions to appreciate Pope Francis’ life and legacy

The GCBC asks the faithful to pray for the Church worldwide as they mourn Pope Francis and prepare for the election of his successor.

Eternal Rest

The statement concludes with a prayer for eternal rest and peace for Pope Francis, citing the words: “Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, And let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.”

The statement is signed by Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Catholic Bishop of Sunyani and President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference.
