From KNUST to University of Toronto: Godwin Boakye’s Journey to Success
Godwin Boakye, a Ghanaian-born scholar, has come a long way since his days at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Today, he is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar pursuing a Master of Biotechnology (MBiotech) degree at the University of Toronto. His ultimate goal is to make a mark in the biopharmaceutical industry.
Godwin’s passion for molecular biology and biotechnology was ignited during his time at KNUST. However, he knew that passion alone was not enough to overcome the challenges ahead. “My time at KNUST taught me the importance of resilience, perseverance, and striving for excellence,” he reflects. “Those lessons have been invaluable in shaping my mindset for the journey ahead.”
The transition to the University of Toronto was a significant leap, but Godwin was excited about the opportunities that lay ahead. “The MBiotech program was the perfect fit for me,” he says. “It combined scientific depth with business strategy, aligning perfectly with my goals. I wanted to be part of something that would enable me to make a real impact.”

The MBiotech program has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the biopharmaceutical landscape, from clinical trials and regulatory affairs to hands-on projects.
