First-Year SHS Students to Report on October 18 – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that first-year students entering Senior High Schools (SHS) across the country will officially report to school on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The directive forms part of the newly released 2025/2026 academic calendar.

In a circular issued to all Regional Directors of Education, the GES instructed that new students in both Single Track and Transitional schools must report on the stated date to begin their academic journey.

The letter, signed by Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, noted that a detailed academic calendar has been attached to guide implementation. The calendar outlines key term dates, holidays, and explanatory footnotes to ensure a smooth and coordinated school year.

Regional Directors have been tasked with distributing the calendar to all heads of second-cycle institutions within their respective regions. Heads of schools have also been urged to strictly adhere to the schedule to maintain uniformity nationwide.

“The Service counts on your usual cooperation to ensure effective teaching and learning in our institutions for the 2025/2026 academic year,” the circular stated.
