KNUST Students Empower JHS Students with Career Guidance and Counselling

In a groundbreaking initiative, MSc. Development Management students from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) joined forces with the Ga-East Municipal Education Directorate’s Guidance and Counselling Unit to organize a transformative career guidance and counselling session for Junior High School (JHS) students.

The event, held at Atomic Hills Estate Demonstration 1&2 Basic School and Presby Model School, brought together students, teachers, parents, and local authorities to reflect on the importance of career guidance and counselling. The programme’s primary objective was to empower students to make informed decisions about their future careers by understanding their interests, ambitions, abilities, and qualifications.

Madam Sally Mbia-Coleman, Guidance and Counselling Coordinator at Ga-East Municipal Education Directorate, emphasized the significance of choosing a career that aligns with one’s intellectual abilities. Madam Priscilla Akomenyi, Guidance and Counselling Coordinator from Ga Central, also shared valuable insights on identifying personality traits and guiding students toward careers that match their natural strengths.
