KNUST Opens Applications for BSc Top-Up Nursing Programmes for 2026/2027

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has opened applications for admission into selected Bachelor of Science (BSc) Top-Up Nursing programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.

According to a notice published on the University’s official website on January 22, 2026, the admissions exercise is being conducted by the School of Nursing and Midwifery under the College of Health Sciences, and is open to qualified diploma holders seeking to upgrade their professional qualifications.

Programmes on Offer

The Top-Up programmes will be run under Regular and Sandwich study modes.

Under the Regular (Top-Up) sessions, applicants may apply for:

  • BSc Emergency Nursing

The Sandwich sessions will offer:

  • BSc Nursing
  • BSc Midwifery
  • BSc Public Health Nursing

Entry Requirements

Eligibility for the programmes varies by area of study but generally requires applicants to be diploma holders with professional certification.

Applicants seeking admission into BSc Nursing or BSc Emergency Nursing must hold a Diploma in Nursing with a good pass, be duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMC), and must have completed their National Clinical Rotation.

For the BSc Midwifery programme, applicants must possess a Diploma in Midwifery, be registered with the NMC, and have completed National Clinical Rotation.

Applicants for the BSc Public Health Nursing programme are required to hold a Diploma in Community Health Nursing or Public Health Nursing, be registered with the NMC, and have completed National Clinical Rotation.

All applicants are also expected to meet KNUST’s minimum university entry requirements, including credit passes in six subjects, with compulsory passes in English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science.

In addition, applicants must provide relevant documents such as their NMC certificate, diploma certificate, WASSCE/SSSCE certificates or result slips, and KNUST Access results where applicable.

Interview Requirement

The University has indicated that all applicants will be required to attend and pass a pre-admission interview as part of the selection process.

Application Process

Prospective applicants are required to purchase an e-Voucher at any designated Ghana Post Company Limited office at a cost of GH₵250.00. The voucher provides a Login ID and PIN for access to the KNUST online admissions portal.

Applicants must complete the application online and upload scanned copies of all required documents. After submission, applicants are advised to print a copy of the completed application for personal reference. No hard copies are to be submitted to the University.

Deadline

The deadline for submission of application forms is Friday, April 17, 2026.

Study Centres

All the programmes will be run at KNUST, Kumasi. Nursing and Midwifery programmes will be offered under both Regular Top-Up and Sandwich modes, while Emergency Nursing will run under the Regular mode and Public Health Nursing under the Sandwich mode.
